I Need Some Time Time Away

I need to take some time away from this blog. Yesterday I just finished another 5 day week at the humane society. I will learn how to say no. I switched jobs because the one I had wasn’t keeping me busy enough more about that next time. Every day I came home from those 6 hour shifts I was so tired I fell asleep in the recliner around 8 pm, my sleep schedule is a mess. The apartment above me had its water heater blow out the back which caused a major leak in my place. It came in the bathroom, hall closet and main closets ceilings. I had to clear out all of that stuff and dry it out, wash all of my clothes that were hanging up and I guess I was lucky the only thing that was ruined were my leather funeral shoes. I still have all of that stuff stacked all over my living room with a path leading in and out. I found 6 different to do list the other day I am so far behind in my real life it is pathetic. When my real life butts up against my virtual life this badly I have to take care of my real life first. Then add on the fact that my passions are changing. I still don’t have any urge to unpack my camera and I will start my new blog before I post on this one again. I have only been away a couple of days and looked at my email this morning and am staring at about 100 different post. I wont even try to catch up with all of those. The best I can do is pick one from each person I follow and catch up with it. Once I start back up again I will commit myself to posting once a week on this site because I don’t want to lose track of all of you or your post. I looked the other day and some how I have ended up following 50 blogs, that is part of the reason I have fallen so far behind. I have already gotten rid of 5 and some of the new ones are only following me here because of my new site. I still will have to get rid of some more though. I was going to take two or three weeks off but then that would put me to close to Christmas when I would take off again so I will probably be off of this site the rest of the year. My new blog will be about my struggles of trying to go from a vegetarian to a vegan. I will offer a link to it the next time I post other than that I wont talk about it in this blog. I do ask that you don’t follow me on my new blog just because its me, because it wont be anything like this blog. It will be full of recipes reblogs and guest speakers. I have to come up with a new pin name so my new post don’t show up on your readers to keep you all from getting confused. Then I will have to sign in and out every time I switch blogs so I will be confused. I am probably taking on too much but I have to give it a try.
I have a blog I follow that I refer as a hidden gem, this girl writes a lot like me she just blurts out what ever comes into Her head. She only has two or three followers. I am not asking you to follow Her blog, I would never do that. If you have the time you might want to take a peek at it, the choice is yours 🙂

My Blog Days Off 9/20/13

I started to just leave this page blank because that is about all I got accomplished on my day and a half away.
I just deleted a whole paragraph on the things I didn’t get done, it depressed even me. I will just say I got nothing done to get ready for my move. I stopped this about an hour ago ate some breakfast finally woke up and got pissed at myself for doing nothing, so I spent a whole 20 minutes clearing this off. This cabinet I guess you would call it is about 5 and/2 ft long and all I use it for is one huge junk drawer.

Terrible picture taken with my phone in bad light. These are things I need to move myself. The four items on the left are from my younger brother who passed a few years ago. All the rest are glass or tile items given to me over the years from my Daughter. These are the only “keepsake” items I have.

One more thing off my check list for the first time in a week !

I did go down to the office yesterday and arrange to get my new place a day before the movers come, for a fee or course, so I can move a bunch of stuff that you just cant pack.

I also discovered the other day that by moving from upstairs to down stairs my hotspot signal drops from 4 strong bars to two weak ones. So now I need to order a 250 dollar signal booster from Verizon to get my speed backup. Now I am up to over a grand for the cost of this move including the painter and everything which wipes out my Christmas fund for myself. I guess when I move I will wish myself a merry Christmas 🙂

My Blog Days Off 9/6/13

My Wednesday started out like what has become normal for me. I stayed on here until 10:00 AM catching up with as many post as I could before starting my time away. I then spent a couple of hours looking around for towns within a 25 minute drive from the VA I go to. I was tempted to go to Newton and look around when something occurred to me. Location!!.

I like this corner I live on because the Large Grocery store is only about a 5 minute walk away. This place has everything from a florist shop to a customer service portion that even has a full post office in it. There prices are higher on most things than Wallmart so I normally only shop the sales and stock up on some sales items like lean cuisine frozen dinners which I eat a lot of to coffee. When these items are on sale they are a lot cheaper than Wallmart. Across the street from there is the local chain convenience store. I normally only walk there when it gets cold to get a low fat cappuccino. I am flat-out addicted to those in the winter time. Right next to that is a subway this is normally the only fast food I eat because if you get the right sandwich they can be very healthy. This corner also has a McDonald’s where I occasionally go for breakfast. At least a dozen other places I have no need for. Within a five minute driving distance there is one of the large Wallmart’s that stay open 24 hours a day right in the middle of a very large shopping center.

There are three apartment complexes on or close to this corner. I went to one and the rates were about the same but they didn’t have a carport. I need one for two reasons the sun here will kill a paint job even though I have my car detailed twice a year on the outside which includes a very good had wax. It keeps the car cooler in this blazing Kansas sun in the summer time. The big one is hail, we normally have a lot of it in the spring time. I have had hail damage before and after it is repaired the outside of the car is just never the same.

I made a big decision that afternoon and decided to try to stay in this complex. I went offer to the office and talked to Hilary the only one of the girls over there I still like. I asked for a different colored building and the new carpet they are putting in plus one closer to the stores on the corner. I probably wont get the new carpet but the building shouldn’t be a problem. I have to move downstairs anyway so I picked a different floor plan. The one I am currently has a very long living/dinning room that I call the bowling alley. The one I chose is more compartmentalized with a better definition between the rooms. I did look at a studio apt to save 50 bucks a month and they are just to small at 425 sq ft. I just like a lot about this place, all of the residents are very friendly, they are the only place around that offers free wi-fi which I occasionally have to use when I get close to my 10 GB data cap and the big one location. Right now the units are 20 bucks a month more that I now pay. I get my carport now for free when I move I get it for half off which is 10 bucks a month. So that would amount to a 30 dollar a month raise, too much for now. Besides this place has an unusual release policy. They only tell you what your rate will be 15 days before your lease is up and your price can never go down. If all the units around me were going for 30 dollars less I couldn’t get that price. I will just have to get as ready as I can and watch the rates, like playing the stock market. The rest of this day I spent catching up on some sleep and just vegging out on the boob tube.

The next day I started making a bunch of list of things I need to do to prepare to move. I found a maintenance man who is willing to repaint my place for 100 bucks. I need to talk to Him today and get Him in here as quick as I can. I found my old list from my last move and need to drive over on the other side of town and set up another move with some additions to my list and a few deletions. I have another dozen or so things I need to do but they aren’t in my immediate category. I will be very busy for the next two weeks and will try to keep up with everyone. If I fall behind I wont post until I catchup. Just know I will get to your post eventually my priority has to shift away from this blog for the next couple of weeks.

Still dealing with that load of crap that got dumped on me last week. I will fix it but it will take some time.

Sorry about the length of this thing.

Blogging Days Off 2

I woke up that morning around 1 AM after three hours of sleep,I got a late start leaving to go out to my other place. I was running around doing some errands that morning, packing my stuff for the trip out and trying to answer as many post as I could before I left. I normally pack the night before why I didn’t this time I don’t have a clue. I finally left here about 10 AM. I stopped in a town called Goddard on the way to try a smoothie at MacDonald’s. It was terrible it had way to much ice, I make better ones at home using ice cold water instead of ice. When I was in there I caught up some more on some post that were quickly adding up,this was getting to the point of being a bit obsessive most people know I catch up when I get back anyway.

I took the back road out and took a few pictures on the way. The only reason I took this one was during my last time off I took a picture of some green fields and didn’t know what the crop was this one is Maize. The fields are still a very lush green except of the brown heads of the maize. They go for about 8 miles as far as the eye can see on both sides of the road, this has to be hundreds if not thousands of acres. IMG_1201 (1280x960) (1280x960)

The next three pictures I have driven by well over 100 times and never took a picture of them. I have several of my photos sorted into collections and decided to start two more one of mailboxes, weird ones in the country, and one on signs.

IMG_1207 (1280x1188) (1280x1188)There is nothing remarkable about any of these photos the only reason I even posted them was other than a few small crops these shots are all unprocessed. Probably the last ones you will see from me. I downloaded some free programs for post processing I was going to play with on my trip. The majority of photographers are doing it including all of the pros so who am I to stand in the way of progress.

When I finally got there and unloaded all of the stuff I run back and forth I was sleepy and took a two hour nap, woke up and ate half of a Subway foot long, one of the few fast foods that are actually healthy. Took another two hour nap then ate the other half. I piddled around for a while doing some reading, went to make my nightly protein shake with cottage cheese and some fruit and noticed I had forgotten to bring my blender. I could live with out that extra 90 grams of protein for a day and a half I just wouldn’t do my back exercises. I think I went to bed about 9PM, woke up about midnight wide awake and started to slug down my coffee. When I get up that early I wait a couple of hours before I take my first dose of meds for the day, which consist of my BP medicine and my big dose of anti anxiety medication both of these I have been taking for about 20 years. I went to take my meds couple of hours later and crap I had forgotten them. The only other time I had missed my BP meds by a couple of hours I ended up in the hospital. I fought off a major anxiety attack that was building packed my stuff jumped in the car and hauled ass home by the time I got there I was very dizzy and felt horrible, took my meds did some quick meditation some other tricks I have learned over the years and settled down.

Needless to say I didn’t relax a bit on my two days off and didn’t get much done yesterday. Lesson learned: make a packing list to assist my lousy memory for my trips !!

Blogging Days Off 1

I takes me about an hour to get from my place to where I used to live in the country. The first two-thirds of the drive are boring because you use what they call the fly over here. It is basically a freeway above the city from east to west where you can drive 60. The last third is filled with stop lights so I get off and take the back road in. Much more to see and not too much traffic. Everywhere I looked the countryside was green and lush from all the rain we have received. I pulled over and snapped a shot with my phone because my camera was buried in the back.

WP_20130822_006 (1280x619)

The first day there I did nothing but read all day up until I went to bed. I read one book on my kindle and started another. This alone by itself was relaxing because I thought of nothing but the book I was reading. I totally immersed myself in the book not letting my mind wander. That night when I went to bed the only sounds were the air conditioner cycling on and off and the sound of crickets. No cars on the road, music playing or the sounds of people coming and going. Just almost total silence. For the first time in quite a while I slept a solid six hours straight through.

I woke up the next day feeling better already. Drank my normal pot of coffee then started with my back exercises, something I have been neglecting lately then did about an hour of good solid meditation. I tuned on the radio for the first time since I had been there then read a little more. Later in the day I walked around my sisters yard to take some photos. I really wasn’t that in to it so all I ended up with I would describe as snapshots. My Sister takes a lot of pride in Her yard and always has flowers blooming  the yard is filled with lawn ornaments a well watered lawn lots of flowers and flowering bushes. It also has a gold-fish pond and its Her own little oasis where she escapes from the world.

This plain looking turtle is solar powered  probably 5 years old and still works.

IMG_1194 (1280x909) (1280x909)

She also collects lighthouses that are solar powered, this is one of Her newest additions.

IMG_1180 (1280x960)

This one I like to call when pigs fly, is also new.

I was walking back across the yard looking at the LCD on my camera reviewing the shots I had taken when I heard Mr. squirrel making a racket. We have a history, He is usually quicker than me and over the years I have managed just a few shots of Him. I quickly put my camera back in the shooting mode zoomed in to find Him and was lucky to get off one shot before He went into hiding.

The rest of the day I stayed inside because the humidity was in the 90’s and it was just to sticky to go outside. So I just goofed off the remainder of the day, woke up the next morning and headed home feeling better and more importantly relaxed and rejuvenated.
